My name is Elia Trujillo. I am a native from Port Isabel, Texas. Prior to settling in Lamar, I worked as a migrant farm worker for 15 years and travelled from state to state. During these years, I encountered hardships and was uprooted from every home I stayed in; going hungry frequently was an experience that a child never forgets. Currently, I work as the Language Coordinator/Medical Interpreter at our local community hospital. I received my BSW from Adams State University and my Medical Interpretation Certificates from The College of Arts and Sciences-University of Massachusetts/Translation Center and Bridging the Gap Program. I also had the privilege of participating in the Family Leadership Training Institute. It is my goal to increase awareness regarding hunger in Prowers County /Colorado by participating in the Hunger through the Lens project and helping families end this deadly cycle.
